Walking down the streets of Colaba sure is rewarding; if you’re looking for a dose of history, there’s the Prince of Wales museum, if you want to catch the latest flick, you have Regal Cinema, if you’re into shopping, you have Colaba Causeway, or if you just want to sit down with a glass of cold beer and some snacks, there are plenty of legendary options to pick from.
And just when you think you know the place this well, you come across gems that can blow your mind, like Phillips Antiques, which transports you to a time when fine craftsmanship was scared.
Located in both Colaba and Wadala, Phillips is probably one of the oldest antique stores in the city. Established in 1860, it’s a family-owned store that sells artefacts and colonial furniture that have been restored with love and care. They also sell antique maps, tribal and folk art, silver, lacquer, Oriental & European porcelain & pottery, hanging lamps and Art Deco furniture. Their Wadala store is where you can find antique furniture.
You’ll find bric-a-brac (boxes and trunks) to original engravings and even Tanjore paintings. The pricing starts at INR 45,000 and depends on what you select.
If you’re looking to redecorate your home or even do up one corner and don’t mind the splurge, you’ll enjoy your time in this store. Even otherwise, there’s so much to admire and appreciate, that it’s worth the trip just for that.
Check them out here. And you will be so enthralled by their products that won’t be able to wait and visit the physical store for the real deal!
