Nana Nani Park in Andheri’s Seven Bungalows area is like a hidden oasis amidst a concrete jungle. A walking path, exercise machines and a play area make it ideal for adults and children.
Given that Andheri (West) is home to Bollywood, the suburb is teeming with gyms and yoga classes that cater to actors and aspiring actors who live in the area. Add to it the hustle and bustle of high rises and markets that spill on to the streets and it’s easy to see why anyone can miss the hidden oasis called Nana Nani Park in the Seven Bungalows area of the suburb. Flanked by housing societies and busy roads on either side, the park is almost like an island in the midst of an urban jungle.
Named after maternal grandparents, it would be a bit misleading to think that that is solely the target age group for the park. Packed with an oblong walking path, swings for children and even some exercise machines, it is an ideal space for children and adults alike. You’ll find a mix of people running, senior citizens getting their daily dose of Vitamin D and children playing here. An entry fee of Rs 5 ensures the upkeep and maintenance of the garden that opens as early as 5 am every day and remains closed from 10 am to 4pm before opening its gates for entry till 10 pm. The park is a true testament to how green spaces can be culled out in urban landscapes, much like carving out time for some exercise in a busy schedule.
