DarkGreen Adventures a Back-Pack Travel promoters group from India, claims to love travelers and hate tourists. They are all about leaving behind luxurious touring of places and all about getting to the core of a place, merging along with the locals, basically rejoicing in the authenticity of the place with nature and the people. They are pretty efficient in their work and have multiple treks and trips organized for next 6 months or longer. But, in this post, we will let you through their 15th August Trek that they have arranged at Prabalgad Fort which lays in-between Matheran & Panvel.
The Prabalgad Fort is an elevation of 2,300 feet which was built at the pinnacle of the rocky plateau very close to Matheran. Previously, the fort was known as the Muranajan but later was renamed by the Maratha forces under the rule of Chhatrapati Shivaji. On the top of the fort Prabal, you will break into the dense forest that sits like a cherry on the top. The fort can be approached via a steep climb of a waterfall route (which flows only during Monsoons).
