The metropolitan city of Mumbai has thousands of people coming-in in the city every day and in the already crowded city the daily added rush is not something the city combusts to but still has it’s arms always open for the new-comers. The sad part of the citizens and new-comers is that most of the public educated or not aren’t aware the simple knowledge and action of throwing their garbage in only and only Garbage bins and too habituated in throwing off stuff randomly on streets and any and every corner. Then comes the habit of spitting and every other thing actions that lead up to disrupting the cleanliness of the city.
On this note, Swachhalay along with Humans of Bombay & Mumbai Youth Forum will be organizing a #Walk2Swachhata parade from the Galaxy Apartments, Bandra West, Mumbai at 8.30am followed by massive clean up drive at Bandra railway station on the 28th of October.
The objective of this event is to spread awareness and mobilize resources to take actions for improving access to public sanitation, by targeting the most vulnerable communities. The event will be divided into two aspects:
1. ‘Walk2Swachhata’ (8.30am to 10am) – It will be a procession, where young citizens from all walks of life will partake in a silent walk towards Bandra Station, with placards and banners. The purpose of this march is to mobilize communities to collaboratively redeem their pledge to a #SwachhBharat. The walk will last for 45 minutes, taking the Hill Road route. To ensure safety, Mumbai Police will be accompanying the group of volunteers during this event.
2. ‘Cleanliness Drive (10.30am- 1:30pm): Volunteers will take part in a massive Cleanliness drive at Bandra Station, in partnership with local residents and BMC.
Join Swachhalay, Mumbai Youth Forum & Humans of Bombay on Saturday, 28th October from 8:30am for the #SwachhtaMission at Bandra Station and have the chance be part of this extraordinary journey! Assembly point is at Galaxy Apartments, Bandstand from where the campaign will be launched by #Walk2Swachhta followed by a massive Cleanliness Drive.
